Predicted by many as the next property ‘Hot-Spot’, Dalaman is starting to benefit from the massive investment promised in 2004 by the Government in their ‘Tourism Vision for 2010’. The recent unveiling of planned local projects by Dr Beyhan Korkut, the leader of the local council, is already bringing heightened interest in property in Dalaman and the surrounding area from overseas buyers.

Until now, for many tourists, Dalaman has simply been the starting point for their summer holiday in Turkey. After arriving at the airport they head for the busy resorts of Marmaris, Fethiye, Hisaronnu and Ölüdeniz or the quieter towns of Sarıgerme, Dalyan and Göcek. All this is about to change! With plans for the construction of a Golf Course, Thermal Spa, Hunting and Fishing facilites, a new Marina to accommodate Cruise Yatchs and 800 large and small craft, as well as new Hotels, to increase bed capacity by up 90,000, those tourists will now be able to discover the natural beauty of this area. The Goverment has promised that all projects will be ‘environmentally consious’ and ‘priority will be given to the cultural heritage of Turkey’.

With 10kms of unspoilt coastline and a rapidly growing town centre, Dalaman is perfectly situated for those wishing to purchase a second home or to make that permanent move.

For those wishing to purchase further afield, investment in the transport infrastructure will mean easier year round access to the whole of the Southwest region. The new International Terminal at Dalaman Airport is three times larger than the present one and will have an annual passenger capacity of 10m. Charter flights from the UK will now begin to operate throughout the year and not just in the summer months. With the recent introduction of Easyjet flights to İstanbul, many are also hoping these will extend to Dalaman in the near future, encouraging even more people to sample the delights of southern Turkey.

A major road widening programme, started in 2004, is well underway with many parts of the D400 coastal road now finished. This also includes the new Göcek road tunnel, on the Dalaman/Fethiye road, which cuts out the precarious mountain road and has speeded up travelling times, bringing Göcek to within 15 minutes of Dalaman.
